Earworx - Sippy Downs

What happens at my Earworx appointment?

When you attend the Sippy Downs Earworx clinic, our friendly and experience registered nurse Keryn will ask you to complete a history, and will then thoroughly examine both ear canals to confirm whether wax removal is required. Since wax plays an important role in the healthy functioning of the ear, it will only be removed if it is clinically indicated.

If removal is required, Keryn will conduct the micro-suction process to effectively remove the impacted wax and provide you with some education – all within a half hour window. The procedure is safe and gentle, and involves the use of a micro-suction catheter attached to tube that gently suctions the wax from the ear. Keryn will be wearing ‘loupes’ or binocular glasses with a bright light throughout the procedure to provide her with direct vision into the ear canals at all times; this enhances safety.

Symptoms of Earwax Build Up

Earwax serves several roles in keeping our ears healthy, from lubricating our ear canals to trapping dirt and debris and preventing infection. However, too much of a good thing can lead to uncomfortable symptoms. Normally, earwax naturally removes itself from the ear through a ‘self cleaning’ mechanism, but sometimes it may become trapped in the ear, causing a blockage.

When this occurs, you may experience symptoms such as dizziness, earache, hearing loss or tinnitus. It is important not to attempt to remove the excess earwax yourself as this can cause further damage and pain by pushing wax further into the canal. Instead, we recommend popping into our Sippy Downs clinic for professional and safe ear wax removal.

Why Choose Us

At our Earworx clinics, you will always be treated by one of our registered nurses who are experience and qualified in the practice of safe ear wax removal.

Blocked ears can be uncomfortable and sometimes even debilitating, so don’t delay seeking professional advice. Our friendly Earworx team pride ourselves on alleviating the pain and discomfort associate with wax build ups.

The micro-suction process is safe and gentle, unlike home remedies such as cotton buds which may cause harm to your ear canal and ear drum.
